#### Apartment:
- [ ] Cancel your rental contract
- [ ] Sell your stuff / organise shipping or storage
- [ ] Clean and renovate (e.g. paint walls, fill in picture hook holes). This varies according to your lease contract and the condition of the apartment when you moved in e.g. renovated/unrenovated.
- [ ] Hand over keys, take final meter readings, get a confirmation from landlord that all is in order
- [ ] [De-register your place of residence](#abmeldung)
- [ ] Get deposit sent to a bank account (usually takes 6-12 months), plus or minus refund/deficit on running costs (Betriebskosten)
